The present invention provides a hybrid electrochemical cell using a fuel cell and an electrolytic cell together, and a control method thereof. The hybrid electrochemical cell comprises: i) a fuel cell applied to generate a power; ii) an electrolytic cell arrayed in parallel with the fuel cell by being spaced apart from the fuel cell; iii) a first storage tank located between the fuel cell and the electrolytic cell, connecting the fuel cell with the electrolytic cell, storing hydrogen and carbon monoxide discharged from the electrolytic cell, and configured to supply the hydrogen and carbon monoxide to the fuel cell; iv) a second storage tank located between the fuel cell and the electrolytic cell, connecting the fuel cell with the electrolytic cell, storing steam and carbon dioxide discharged from the fuel cell, and configured to supply the hydrogen and carbon monoxide to the fuel cell; v) a first connecting pipe for connecting the first storage tank and the second storage tank with the fuel cell; vi) a second connecting pipe for connecting the first storage tank and the second storage tank with the electrolytic cell; vii) a discharge terminal connected to the fuel cell, and spaced apart from the first storage tank with the fuel cell interposed therebetween; viii) a charge terminal connected to the electrolytic cell, and spaced apart from the first storage tank with the fuel cell interposed therebetween; and ix) a mode converter configured to be connected to the discharge terminal and charge terminal as extending along an array direction of the fuel cell and electrolytic cell, and electrically connected to the outside by moving one terminal of the discharge terminal and the charge terminal.
