The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a wire grid polarizer. The method includes the following steps: preparing a preparatory thermal contraction film having uneven patterns, wherein bottom parts and protrusion parts are alternately prepared at intervals of a first pitch; forming a thermal contraction film, wherein the first pitch is converted into a second pitch lower than the first pitch, by heating the preparatory thermal contraction film; and forming metal nanopatterns, formed at intervals of the second pitch and polarizing light, by using the uneven patterns.
