The present invention is to provide an apparatus and a method for detecting a target using a radar, in which a target is detected by using a deformed recursive cell average-constant false alarm probability detector without an alignment process. The apparatus for detecting a target according to the present invention comprises: a data selecting unit which selects specific data by comparing reference data with previous data and next data positioned on both sides thereof in a reception signal including information about distances and speeds of multiple targets; a cell average value calculating unit which an average value of cells extracted by using a sliding window including specific data; a CFAR data detecting unit which constant false alarm probability data is used on the basis of the average value of cells extracted; and a target detecting unit which detects a target on the basis of the constant false alarm probability data. |
