The invention relates to a method and a system for producing uniform randomly shuffled data packets for transmission by a test packet generation system. According to the invention, the method consists in using hardware to generate multiple sets of pseudo-random sequences to provide a multitude of number sets, where each set comprises a pseudo-random sequence and each set represents a subset of all possible values of a randomly shuffled sequence and where all the combined sets represent all the values of the sequence and producing the sequence by the repeated selection of the next value of a randomly or pseudo-randomly selected set as the next value in the sequence. The system includes a multitude of modules, where each module generates its own pseudo-random number sequence and where each module emits the next value in its pseudo-random sequence, in response to receiving an output request, as well as a selection logic for creating a sequence of output values by repetitively selecting one of the modules according to a random selection function and sending an output request to the selected module, wherein the sequence of values created from the output of the randomly selected modules comprises a uniform, randomly shuffled sequence. |
