The invention relates to a method and device for identifying a stripe region in an image, wherein the method comprises the following steps: for a plurality of edges extracted from the image, analyzing whether each edge is relatively parallel to an adjacent edge thereof; gathering all edges which are determined to be relatively parallel through analysis in the plurality of edges; and based on all the gathered edges, identifying the corresponding stripe region. According to the method, the edges based on stripes are parallel relatively; the edges in the image are extracted and the edges which are relatively parallel are gathered so that the stripe region is obtained. Therefore, the accuracy of extracting and identifying the stripe region is improved. |
