Systems and methods for fitness tracking are provided. An exercise apparatus is in networked communication with a fitness tracking computing system. The configuration and location of movable components of the exercise apparatus is determined based on sensors. This information is provided to the fitness tracking computing system via networked communication.

at least one moveable member that is movable between a plurality of positions, wherein each of the plurality of positions is associated with an exercise type; at least one sensor positioned to detect a position of the moveable member; and a processor in communication with the at least one sensor and configured to determine the exercise type based on the positioned of the moveable member detected by the at least one sensor.
