Disclosed is a superconducting wire rod, which is provided with a superconductor that is provided with a superconducting layer containing Mg and B, said superconducting layer being provided on a substrate. The superconducting wire rod is formed by: forming side by side a plurality of slits that are machined to a part of the substrate by penetrating the superconducting layer in the layer thickness direction; and by winding the superconductor in the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the slits by having the slits on the outer side. |
