The information providing apparatus includes a communication unit configured to establish a communication network with a mobile terminal within a vehicle, a display unit configured to display a vehicle image, and a control unit configured to receive identification information of the mobile terminal and position information of the mobile terminal through the communication unit, and to control the display unit to display the received position information of the mobile terminal in the vehicle image and display a mobile terminal image corresponding to the identification information in the displayed position information of the mobile terminal.
