This invention provides a media accumulation device that has a storage space. Inside said storage space, the media accumulation device is provided with a release unit, guides, a guide-position change unit, a stage, and a stage movement unit. The release unit releases media that take the form of paper sheets. With respect to an intersecting direction that intersects an accumulation direction in which the media released from the release unit are to be accumulated, the guides define the bounds within which the media are accumulated. The guide-position change unit changes the position of the guides in the aforementioned intersecting direction. The stage has a placement body on which the media released from the release unit are placed. On said placement body, a facing-part separation, namely the separation in the intersecting direction between one guide-facing part that faces a guide and another guide-facing part that faces a guide, can be changed. The stage movement unit moves the stage within the storage space in the abovementioned accumulation direction. |
