PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin for a lubricant with a novel structure, which has a main chain backbone excellent in durability and soluble in a base oil being a hydrophobic substance in spite of a polar structure included in the main chain backbone.SOLUTION: A resin for a lubricant includes a structural unit represented by the general formula (I) in the figure.
