PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve characteristics of a transmission line, which transmits an electric signal, penetrating a housing of an optical module from the outside to the inside.SOLUTION: The optical module includes: the housing including metal parts (502 and 506) and a dielectric part inserted into openings of the metal parts; a line substrate including coplanar transmission lines (G, S and G) penetrating the dielectric part for transmitting a high frequency electric signal so as to connect the outside and the inside of the housing; and a sub carrier which is provided within the housing in which a second transmission line connected to the coplanar transmission lines and a semiconductor element to which the high frequency electric signal is supplied via the second transmission line are disposed. In the line substrate, portions at a lower side of the coplanar transmission lines are made thin and these portions are used as the metal parts. |
