Provided is an arc welding control method in which a forward feed period (t1-t3) and a backward feed period (t3-t5) of a feeding speed (Fw) of a welding wire (1) are cyclically repeated to generate a short period (t21-t33) and an arc period (t33-t21), and when detection is made of the constriction of a droplet formed by the welding wire (1) during the short period (t21-t33), a welding current (Iw) is reduced and the short period is switched to the arc period (t33-t21), wherein the sensitivity of constriction detection is changed in accordance with feeding speed (Fw) waveform parameters such as amplitude (W), period (T), and the ratio (D) between the forward feed period (t1-t3) and the backward feed period (t3-t5). Due to this configuration, even if a waveform parameter is changed, the sensitivity of the constriction detection is automatically made appropriate, and therefore, instability in constriction detection control can be suppressed.
