PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design method for a cross sectional shape of a crude tread rubber by which the cross sectional shape of the crude tread rubber suitable of manufacture of a designed tire is calculated, and designing can be made efficient.SOLUTION: A design method for a cross sectional shape of a crude tread rubber includes: a first model creation process (#1) in which a first tread rubber model of a reference tire is created; a first splitting process (#2) in which the first model is split and plural first split bodies are obtained; a first cross section calculation process (#4) in which an average cross section of each first split body is calculated; a second model creation process (#5) in which a second tread rubber model of a designed tire is created; a second splitting process (#6) in which the second model is split and plural second split bodies are obtained; a second cross section calculation process (#8) in which an average cross section of each first split body is calculated; a difference acquiring process (#9) which a difference of the average cross section of each second split body and the average cross section of each first split body is acquired; and a section calculation process (#11) in which the difference is added to a cross sectional shape of a crude tread rubber of the reference tire, and a cross sectional shape of a crude tread rubber of the designed tire is calculated.
