There is provided a bearing arrangement comprising: a bearing comprising an inner race, an outer race and a plurality of rolling elements arranged between the inner and outer race such that the first race is rotatable relative the second race; bearing lubricant arranged within the bearing to lubricate the rolling elements; an optical fiber comprising a light guiding core and a cladding, wherein at least a portion of the optical fiber is without cladding and arranged in the bearing such that the light guiding core is in contact with the lubricant; an optical transmitter coupled to a first end of the optical fiber for providing light to the optical fiber; and an optical receiver coupled to a second end of the optical fiber and configured to determine an intensity of received light. There is also provided a method for determining a condition of a lubricant in a bearing. |
