Provided is a coating method with which coating failures are inhibited, and transparent conductive films having uniform in-plane distributions of sheet resistance values can be produced. This coating method includes: a coating-liquid preparation step for preparing an aqueous coating liquid which includes metal nanowires and/or carbon nanotubes, and a solvent including water as the main solvent; and a coating step in which a die coater is used to coat a base material with the aqueous coating liquid. The viscosity of the aqueous coating liquid is 1-50 mPa∙s. The surface tension of the aqueous coating liquid is 20-60 mN/m. The capillary number (Ca) represented by formula (1), namely Ca=µU/σ, is not more than 0.03 (in formula (1), µ represents the viscosity (Pa∙s) of the aqueous coating liquid, U represents the coating speed (m/s) of the aqueous coating liquid, and σ represents the surface tension (N/m) of the aqueous coating liquid). |
