PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent that forms an optical alignment type liquid crystal alignment film which can maintain its properties such as liquid crystal alignment properties, alignment stability, contrasts, or AC residual images, while controlling the generation of foreign matter.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal aligning agent for an optical alignment film comprises a terminal-sealed polyamic acid obtained by a reaction of a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, a diamine compound and an amino silane compound, or a derivative thereof.
