The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing oligoporphyrins, to oligoporphyrins obtainable using said method, and to uses of said oligoporphyrins. The present invention also relates to oligoporphyrins obtainable using the method of the invention as a drug, in particular as an immunomodulatory drug. The method of the invention includes a step (a) of enzymatic hydrolysis of porphyrin by means of beta-agarase B, and a step (b) of purifying the oligoporphyrin by at least one ultrafiltration of the hydrolysate on a membrane. The present invention can be used, for example, in human and animal health, for example in immunomodulation, in the pharmaceutical field as well as in the cosmetic and nutraceutical fields.
