PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cushioning material and a packing method which can reliably prevent damage to a breakable container such as an edible container even when the container is conveyed or transported in a stacked state.SOLUTION: A support member 10 having inverted conical storage recesses 15 is provided so as to be separated from a bottom wall of a corrugated cardboard case 1. A plurality of pillow packages 5 in which a plurality of cone cups 6 are packaged in a stacked state are stored in the storage recesses 15 and supported by opening parts and step parts. Mounting recesses 31 of an alignment cover 30 are disposed or mounted to the upper parts of the erected packages 5, and the contact of the adjacent packages 5 is restricted. The inverted conical storage recesses 15 are swingably displaceable. Four thin-walled recessed parts 32 for defining the mounting recesses 31 comprise cushion walls 32a which are displaced or displaceable by coming into contact with a plurality of portions of the upper outer peripheral parts of the packages 5.
