The present invention relates to antisense oligonucleotides that modulate the expression of and/or function of an Antiviral gene, in particular, by targeting natural antisense polynucleotides of an Antiviral gene. The invention also relates to the identification of these antisense oligonucleotides and their use in treating disease and disorders associated with the expression of Antiviral genes.

1. A method of upregulating a function of and/of the expression of an Antiviral gene polynucleotide in patient cells or tissues in vivo or in vitro comprising:
contacting said cells or tissues with at least one antisense oligonucleotide 12 to 30 nucleotides in length wherein said at least one oligonucleotide has al least 90% sequence identity to a reverse complement of a polynucleotide comprising 12 to 30 consecutive nucleotides within nucleotides 1 to 1267 of SEQ ID SEQ ID NO: 4, 1 to 586 of SEQ ID NO: 5, 1 to 741 of SEQ ID SEQ ID NO; 6, 1 to 251 of SEQ ID NO: 7, 1 to 681 of SEQ ID NO: 8; thereby upregulating a function of and/or the expression of the Antiviral gene polynucleotide in patient cells or tissues in vivo or in vitro.
