PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver capable of further faster controlling a wavelength of a local oscillation light.SOLUTION: The optical receiver includes: a local oscillation light source 1; an optical modulation section 2 for modulating a continuous light from the local oscillation light source 1; a coherent reception section 3 for generating an electric signal from a light obtained by mixing a received signal light and an output light from the optical modulation section 2; A/D conversion sections 4a and 4b each for converting the electric signal from the coherent reception section 3 into a digital signal; a digital signal processing section 5 for decoding a reception signal on the basis of the digital signals from the A/D conversion sections 4a and 4b; a frequency variable oscillator 6 which outputs an RF signal for driving the optical modulation section 2; an amplifier 7 for amplifying the RF signal; and a frequency control section 8 for controlling an output frequency of the frequency variable oscillator 6. The optical modulation section 2 modulates the continuous light from the local oscillation light source 1 by shifting a wavelength of the continuous light on the basis of the RF signal input from the frequency variable oscillator 6 and generates the output light to be input to the coherent reception section 3.
