PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods for the detection of antibodies to native human leukocyte antigen.SOLUTION: There are provided herein compositions comprising native and denatured human leukocyte antigens (HLA) and methods for making the compositions. Also there are provided herein methods and kits for the detection of antibodies to native HLAs. The native HLAs are by far the primary component of the compositions, which are made by enriching the native HLAs in a mixed composition by means of selective enzymatic reactions. In one aspect, the composition of the invention contains at least 90% of native human leukocyte antigens and at most 10% of denatured human leukocyte antigens.
