PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a region where an engine is operated at high rotation, a discharge frequency increases, causing deterioration in output of a coil and thermal destruction of a switch element.SOLUTION: An ignition system for an internal combustion engine includes: a plurality of coil parts for supplying output voltage to a common ignition plug; an engine control unit for outputting a first ignition signal and a second ignition signal based on an engine speed; and a thermistor for outputting a detection signal on a temperature of the plurality of coil parts. The first ignition signal supplied during the high rotation in which the engine speed is 4,000 rpm or more causes a certain coil part of the plurality of coil parts to be stopped, and causes the other coil parts different from this certain coil part to be driven when a detection signal on that certain coil part reaches a threshold. |
