PURPOSE:To prevent a catalyst from lowering in strength and from deteriorating in activity and to prlong a catalyst life, by evening out variable oxygen concn. of coal gas by adding air or oxygen followerd by deoxidation and desulfurization. CONSTITUTION:Air or oxygen 33 is added to coal gas 1 (hereinafter referred to as COG) separated from an inpurity, which is then pressuized and sent to a furnace 7. The air or oxygen 33 is supplied in an amt. adjusted so as to give oxygen in an amt. equal to that of oxygen in COG discharged from a coke oven during a period other than coal feeding. COG may be mixed with naphtha or LPG 35. After heating, oxygen is removed and an organosulfur compd. is decomposed in a deoxidation/desulfurization reactor 11. Gas 13 after the reaction is desulfurized in an adsorbing desulfurizer 15 filled with an adsorptive desulfulizing agent such as ZnO. Then, COG 17 heated to a high temp. by deoxidation etc. is cooled to a determined temp. by a heat exchanger 19 and supplied together with steam 23 to a reforming column 25, where it is subjected to steam reforming. A reformed gas rich in methane is cooled by a cooler 29 and discharged out of the system. |
