An ignition control device for an in-vehicle internal combustion engine on which a spark plug (40) having opposite electrodes (41, 42) is mounted stores a load condition of an internal combustion engine (10) at a time when a vehicle is operated and calculates, on the basis of a history of the stored load condition, a required voltage necessary for the generation of spark discharge of the spark plug. Then, on the basis of the required voltage calculated, replacement timing of the spark plug is determined. That is, the ignition control device calculates a current inter-electrode distance between the opposite electrodes (41, 42) while taking the history of the load condition into consideration and calculates the required voltage on the basis of the calculated current inter-electrode distance and an operation state of the internal combustion engine (10) on a moment-to-moment basis. |
