PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for achieving IP communication by two-way communication via a pair of differential transmission lines in an interface where data transmission of video and the like, exchange and authentication of connection device information and communication of connection control data are performed by one cable.SOLUTION: In a transmission method, first data being video data constituted of base bands is accumulated in a storage section; a connection state between a transmitter and an external device is recognized by DC bias potential of one of a pair of differential transmission lines included in an HDMI (registered trademark) cable; the first data accumulated in the storage section is transmitted to the external device via a plurality of base band transmission lines included in the HDMI cable with a differential signal; and second data different from the first data is transmitted to the external device via a reserve line allocated to a pin whose pin number is 17 and an HPD line allocated to a pin whose pin number is 19 in an HDMI cable-type C connector. |
