PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet device which obtains good ink jetting characteristics even when a sub-tank (a connection body), which is connected with an ink tank (an external liquid storage body) disposed at an exterior part of a recording device, is attached thereto and an ink is supplied from the ink tank to a jet head.SOLUTION: A liquid jet device of the invention includes: a carriage 2 where a liquid storage body 26 for storing a liquid may be attached to/detached from; a recording head (a jet head) 10 which is mounted on the carriage 2 and has a nozzle NZ for jetting the liquid; a detection part SW which detects an attachment/detachment state of an ink cartridge (the liquid storage body) 26; and a maintenance part which conducts maintenance to the recording head 10 on the basis of a detection result of the attachment/detachment state of the ink cartridge 26 which is detected by the detection part SW. The recording head 10 includes a filter 31 which is disposed so as to contact with an ink absorber (a liquid absorber) 28 provided at the ink cartridge 26.
