<p>Disclosed is an optical glass which has a low Abbe number (?d) even when the refractive index (nd) thereof is within a desired range. The optical glass is highly transparent to visible light, and can be easily softened at low temperatures and easily processed by polishing. Also disclosed are an optical element and a preform for precision press molding, each using the optical glass. The optical glass contains, in mol% relative to the total amount of the glass in terms of oxides, 40.0% or greater but less than 75.0% of a TeO2 component and not less than 1.0% but not more than 40.0% of one or more components selected from the group consisting of a Bi2O3 component, an Nb2O5 component, a WO3 component and a TiO2 component, while having an Abbe number (?d) of not more than 30. The optical element and the preform for precision press molding are composed of the optical glass.</p> |
