<p>347,053. Controlling variable-speed gearing. FOLLIS, P. R., 315, Jefferson Street, Paducah, Kentucky, U.S.A. June 18, 1930, No. 18650. [Class 80 (ii).] The operating arm 20 of the main clutch of a motor vehicle e carries a cross shaft 32 upon which are pivoted a series of gear control pedals 33, 34, 35. The pedals are connected to shift rods 5, 6, 7 by links 37 and concentric shafts. In operation the driver places his left foot on one of the pedals and presses down the lever 20 to dis - engage the clutch ; the pedal may then be rocked on the shaft 32 to change gear. A rubber block is secured to the floor board to engage the toe of the pedal 33 and restore it to neutral position when the arm 20 reaches its lowest position. Another block is provided to act similarly on the heel of the pedal 34.</p> |
