摘要 Vehicle speed / cruise control having target speed (user_set_speed / LSP_set-speed). Torque is supplied, possibly by an electric / electronic controller, to cause travel at a required speed (LSP_set-speed_inst). Changes in required speed occur according to pre-determined speed / acceleration profile (figure 6b), causing a change in instant vehicle speed (v_ref). When powertrain interruption occurs (e.g. gear change), changes in required speed (LSP_set-speed_inst) are suspended, i.e. the acceleration profile is time-shifted. Required torque may be determined according to the difference (speed_delta, figure 8) between required and instant vehicle speeds. Electric controller may receive signals indicative of powertrain torque interruption / gear change, prompting cessation in acceleration, and indicative of powertrain torque resumption to resume acceleration. Vehicle speed may be kept constant, or an amount of change of speed may be limited, during powertrain torque interruption. The electronic controller may have a proportional-integral (PI) feedback control portion outputting a signal proportional to difference between v_ref and LSP_set-speed, and a signal corresponding to an integrated value over time of the difference between v_ref and LSP_set-speed. A method of use is also disclosed.
