<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas shutoff apparatus capable of shutting off the supply of gas at an early stage by enhancing the sensitivity of an alarm unit when a gas meter detects a gas leakage from gas piping. <P>SOLUTION: The gas shutoff apparatus comprises: an alarm unit 40 which includes gas detection means 44 that has plural detection threshold values to output signals corresponding to different levels based on the plural detection threshold values representing the density of the detected gas and an alarm unit transmission means 41 that transmits the output signal to a gas meter 30; and the gas meter 30 which includes, gas meter receiving means 35 that receives the signal output from the alarm unit 40, shut-off means 31 that supplies and shuts off the gas, and gas leakage detection means 33 that detects gas leakage from gas piping. When the gas leakage detection means 33 of the gas meter 30 detects gas leakage from the gas piping, the gas is shut off based on the output signal having a lower detection threshold value detected by the gas detection means 44 of the alarm unit 40.
