The invention relates to a method for predicting a driving maneuver of a vehicle, having the following steps: detecting the speed of the vehicle at a first and second distance of the vehicle to a reference point along a path; said vehicle being located at the first distance to the reference point at a first point in time and at the second distance at a second point in time; generating at least one first and second estimation of the speed of the vehicle for the second point in time and of the distance of the vehicle to the reference point for the second point in time; wherein the first and the second estimation are each based on the speed of the vehicle at the first distance, the first distance to the reference point, and the second point in time; the first estimation is additionally based on a first curve of the desired speed of the vehicle, said curve being determined in advance, for an assumption of a first driving maneuver dependent on the distance of the vehicle to the reference point; and the second estimation is based on an assumption of a second driving maneuver; ascertaining a measured value with respect to the probability of occurrence of an estimation for each estimation while taking into consideration the detected speed of the vehicle at the second distance to the reference point and the second distance itself; and predicting the driving maneuver on the basis of the ascertained measured value. The invention is characterized in that the first curve of the desired speed for the first driving maneuver, said curve been determined in advance, is determined on the basis of the geometry of a first path for the first driving maneuver. The invention likewise relates to a method for predicting a driving maneuver of a vehicle on the basis of the acceleration of the vehicle.
