The present invention relates to the sealing of canals. In order to provide a sealing means which is intended for a canal in the water-channelling state and is suitable even for relatively large throughflow quantities and requires the lowest possible outlay, a canal-sealing system (10) with a placing apparatus (16) and an introduction apparatus (18) is provided. The placing apparatus is designed to place a web-like mat material (20) on a first region of a water surface of a canal, wherein the web-like mat material is formed, at least in part, with cavities (22) for accommodating a carrying material. The introduction apparatus is designed to introduce carrying material (24) into at least some of the cavities, for gradual lowering of the web-like mat material until it bears on a bottom surface (26) of the canal. |
