<p>A method of processing a material comprises setting (30) one or more processing parameters for the material; rolling (31) the material in a rolling mill according to the processing parameters; cutting (34) the rolled material with a shear; measuring (35) the cutting force applied by the shear during a cut; comparing (36) the measured cutting force with an expected cutting force for the processing parameters; and. controlling (37, 38) the values of the processing parameters set in the rolling mill according to the result of the comparison. The processing parameters may be cooling rate, cooling stop temperature, re-heat temperature, re-heat time, hold thickness, hold temperature, finish rolling temperature.</p> |
