<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting instrument for a traffic signal which achieves less snow accretion thereon to solve problems of increasing manufacturing cost and weight in a lighting instrument provided with a snow protection cover. <P>SOLUTION: In a lighting instrument for a traffic signal, a hood is eliminated. A cover 30 shielding front area of a light-emitting unit 26 in a signal lamp unit 20 is adapted to have a hemispherical shaped dome 32a.
