[Class 92 (ii).] A compound metal cooling jacket adapted to be readily disassembled from the barrel is composed of two metals differing in thermal properties, one, e.g. copper, having high conductivity, and the other, e.g. aluminium, or magnalium, having capacity for readily absorbing heat. In the jacket shown, a copper sleeve b<1> in contact with the gun barrel a is surrounded by a finned aluminium radiator b<2>, the jacket being divided into radial segments held in place by removable spring bands d. |
