The carrier (100) has a processing unit coupled with receiving and transmitting antennas (10, 20). The processing unit produces a field by the transmitting antenna. A frequency of a reading device is processed for production of the field. The field transmitted by the transmitting antenna causes modulation of a reading device field. The reading device field is received by the receiving antenna for synchronization of a transmission frequency of the carrier with a transmission frequency of a reading device. The processing unit evaluates a frequency of the reading device field. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a data carrier.
