A rotary rock bit comprising a tool body which is of revolution about a rotational axis, said tool body comprising an axial core and radial blades through which there pass cavities containing abrasive elements comprising impregnated diamonds, wherein the blades are made of steel, the cavities are grooves hollowed out in the edge of the blades, in the direction of rotation of the tool body, and the abrasive elements are cylinders which are disposed in the grooves, in the direction of rotation of the tool body;
wherein the grooves have two substantially planar faces, which are transverse to the edge of the blades and against which two planar longitudinal faces of the abrasive elements are applied; wherein the planar faces of the abrasive elements are connected by two opposite convex faces, one of said convex faces being applied against the concave bottom of the groove and the other convex face of the abrasive element forming a forward protrusion from the edge of the blade.
