PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the degradation of picture quality while reducing power consumption.SOLUTION: A reproduction color space is divided in plurality by a hue, and different values are set to at least two of a plurality of divided spaces as limit values that are upper limits to the ratio, to a total number of pixels, of the number of pixels exceeding the maximum value of the luminosity of the reproduction color space in a combination of hue and saturation values. A first limit value for the case of a color included in an area that is set on the basis of the case of at least one color among six specific colors where the signal value of a component, among the red, blue, and green components of an input signal, whose value is maximum and the signal value of a component whose value is minimum are different, and the signal value of a component whose value is intermediate and the signal value of the component whose value is maximum or the signal value of the component whose value is minimum are the same, is set to be higher than a second limit value for the case of the other color. An expansion coefficient α for the input signal is calculated within the range in which the ratio of the number of pixels exceeding the maximum value of luminosity to the total number of pixels does not exceed the limit values. |
