PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can display an image by using general control means and can improve display qualities without increasing a frame frequency.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate and a second substrate; a plurality of first electrodes 11 extending in strips along a first direction; a plurality of second electrodes 12 extending in strips along a second direction intersecting the first direction; a plurality of auxiliary electrodes 17 each disposed between the second electrodes 12 in a plan view and extending along the second direction, and having a width smaller than a width of the second electrodes; a liquid crystal layer 16 disposed between the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 2 and having mono-domain alignment with substantially perpendicular alignment; and drive means supplying a drive voltage to the plurality of first electrodes, the plurality of second electrodes and the plurality of auxiliary electrodes 17. The drive means scans some of or the whole auxiliary electrodes 17 in subsequent scanning of the plurality of second electrodes 12. |
