Disclosed is a camera apparatus which can detect and track an object. The camera apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a camera for detecting at least one object in a first direction of a monitoring area, and generating metadata on at least one object; and a camera control unit for controlling at least one among pan, tilt, and zoom of the camera based on metadata of a selected target among at least one object.
