PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latch device capable of releasing temporarily excessive external force and avoiding breakage when the temporarily excessive external force operates while normally securing sufficient engagement force.SOLUTION: There is provided a latch device including: a housing; a slide body housed in the housing; a spring member which energizes the slide body; an engagement body which is supported by the slide body rotatably through a pivotal part, and rotates when an engaged/disengaged member abuts to be switched between a locking position where a claw part on a tip side can lock the engaged/disengaged member and a locking release position where the engaged/disengaged member is released; and a pin member which releases the slide body from being locked when the slide body is switched from a standby position to the locking position and locked at a position after backward movement, and moves back when pressed again at the position after backward movement. A boss is provided on a side face of the engagement body so as to hold the engagement body at the locking position, and a boss abutting surface set at an angle at which rotation is allowed when predetermined force is applied to the engagement body is provided, so while sufficient engagement force is normally secured, temporarily excessive force is released when operating so as to avoid breakage. |
