PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that achieves a reduction in size and installation space of the image forming apparatus by simplification of a contact/separation configuration of a secondary transfer roller, and can obtain good secondary transfer performance without increasing the cost of the secondary transfer roller even when the operation of the image forming apparatus is accelerated.SOLUTION: Separation means for separating a secondary transfer roller from an endless belt is arranged between a primary transfer surface arranged opposite to a plurality of image carriers between an opposing roller and a stretching roller for an endless belt and a surface arranged opposite to the primary transfer surface, and engages with the secondary transfer roller to separate the secondary transfer roller from the endless belt. |
