摘要 The invention provides for an improved vertical axis wind rotor for electrical energy production. It is intended for use with Industrial Design Application No. 158559, which will have 4 such rotors and be of a scale that is manually portable. The rotor includes a plurality of curved blades. Each blade is pivotally anchored to 2 enclosing end flanges and is adjacent to a central drive shaft that attaches to a separate electrical generator motor. Each blade can swivel outward wi-en wind pressure is on its concave side, and can swivel closed as the rotor turns. This closing has the effect of reducing resistance when the convex aspect of the blade turns to face the wind. The progressive curvature of the blade allows it to partially enclose the next curves retracted blade, which in turn does the same to the next blade, so that mitigation of wind resistance is maximal. At higher speed the rotating centrifugal force prevents the blade from closing entirely allowing for smooth passage of air out and over the next blade. The expulsion of air from the chamber created by the curved blade and shaft edge enables the air pass over the adjacent convex blade creating aerodynamic pull on the convex surface, which contributes pressure to the rotary action. The blades' swivel action allows for the wind to easily swing the blade open as the turbine rotates, and allows the wind to enter and leave the dynamic chamber. The fully extended blade applies rotation pressure upon contact with pressure rings on the edge flanges above and below the set of blades. The article is intended to work on a small scale, in series with several similar rotors connected to electrical generator motors that can supply re-chargeable batteries, all in a compact appliance. The rotor can also be used on a large scale. High wind protection is provided by the user of the small appliance, and can be provided separately in larger applications.
