The present invention relates to a device and a method to automatically charge an auxiliary battery of an electric vehicle, capable of allowing a driver to safely work on a vehicle regardless of a period for charging the auxiliary battery in order to operate the periodic automatic charging of the auxiliary battery when the electric vehicle is parked for a long time. To achieve the purpose, the device to automatically charge the auxiliary battery, capable of charging the auxiliary battery with power of a main battery in a predetermined cycle, includes: a charging prohibition state sensing part sensing a vehicle state to prohibit the charging of the auxiliary battery; and a control part charging the auxiliary battery or prohibiting the charging when determining a charging prohibition state from a signal from the charging prohibition state sensing part while the auxiliary battery is being charged or before the charging is started. |
