PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system including a portable terminal and an electronic apparatus, convenient and having reduced power consumption.SOLUTION: An electronic apparatus transmits state change information representing a state change to a portable terminal (1, 1a), validates a specific communication unit (short-range communication unit 112) in accordance with a response from the portable terminal, and establishes communication with the portable terminal (1, 1a). The portable terminal receives the state change information, transmits a response in accordance with reception of the information, and validates a predetermined communication unit (a second wireless communication unit 212).
