PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel therapeutic agent against hypercholesterolemia.SOLUTION: A method for reducing high concentration of circulating cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) in mammalian blood comprises a treatment of oral administration of a therapeutically effective amount of calebin-A to the mammals. The method can prevent and delay onsets of atherosclerosis, hypertriglyceridemia inducible fatty liver, and/or pancreatitis, and/or delay progress of such diseases; can reduce the concentration of low density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) in mammalian blood, and can be aimed at increase in the concentration of high density lipoprotein (HDL).
