PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler capable of improving circulation of exhaust gas and exhibiting a superior exhaust gas sound-muffling performance, even though its configuration is simple.SOLUTION: A muffler comprises: a casing; an inlet pipe for feeding exhaust gas into the casing; and an outlet pipe 4 for discharging exhaust gas from the inside of the casing. An exhaust gas flowing-in side opening part 400 of the outlet pipe 4 is provided with a lid part 5 arranged to close the exhaust gas flowing-in side opening part 400. The lid part 5 is provided with: an exhaust gas flowing-in port 51 for flowing the exhaust gas into the outlet pipe 4; a valving element 62 for opening/closing the exhaust gas flowing-in port 51; and a communicating hole 52 separately formed from the exhaust gas flowing-in port 51. The valving element 62 is configured in such a way that it can be rotation-moved within the outlet pipe 4 around its rotating shaft 620. The communicating hole 52 is arranged on the side of the rotating shaft 620 of the valving element 62 relative to the exhaust gas flowing-in port 51. |
