<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water supply system which hardly supplies water with deteriorated quality or cold water when hot water supply is switched to the supply from an auxiliary water heater. <P>SOLUTION: The hot water supply system A includes a main water heater 1 which supplies hot water from a hot water storage tank 1b storing hot water heated by a heat pump 1a to hot water supply load, the auxiliary water heater 2 composed of a gas water heater, and a control panel 3. In a state in which the auxiliary water heater 2 stops while hot water is supplied from the main water heater 1 to the hot water supply load 20, if an amount of hot water in the hot water storage tank 1b becomes a predetermined first threshold value or lower, the control panel 3 switches a drain valve 6 to an opened state to discharge hot water from the auxiliary water heater 2. After the draining operation, an opening/closing valve 4 and the drain valve 6 are switched to closed states, and the opening/closing valve 5 is switched to an opened state.
