Novel fluoroacyl arylamines useful in organic electronic applications are disclosed, including methods of synthesizing those fluoroacyl arylamines using Lewis acids for acyl moiety activation.

A fluoroacyl arylamine comprising an arylamine portion and one or more fluoroacyl groups, comprising:wherein each of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 is located at any site on an aryl group; and is one or more hydrogen atoms; a halogen, a hydrocarbon of 1 to about 8 carbon atoms, which can be substituted or can comprise a heteroatom, or a functional group; n is 1, 2 or 3; and at least one ring comprises at least one fluoroacyl group.
