PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply system and a measurement or observation system that can be used while connected to no commercial power source, can reduce greatly the frequency of maintenance such as exchange of a secondary battery, can be used even at a place where ambient temperature greatly varies, and can be continuously operated for a long term.SOLUTION: In a power supply system containing a fuel battery and a secondary battery, the fuel battery and the secondary battery constituting the power supply system are mounted in at least one housing. Surplus waste heat generated under power generation is exhausted as exhaust gas from the fuel battery or exhaust gas thermally drifted through a heat exchanger is discharged from the fuel battery. By a switching mechanism 6 provided to an exhaust port 3 provided to the outer wall surface of the housing or to a route in a passage for connecting the fuel battery and the exhaust port 3, a structure capable of switching a state (A) where the exhaust gas is circulated in the housing, and a state (B) where the exhaust gas is discharged from the exhaust port 3 to the outside of the housing is provided to control the operation environment of the fuel battery. |
